We are happy to announce that our patent application for a new treatment modality for vocal fold pathologies using ultrafast laser vocal fold surgery has been granted. Titled as  'SYSTEMS, DEVICES AND METHODS FOR IMAGING AND SURGERY', the patent proposes creating sub-epithelial voids at the treatment sites using ultrafast lasers to direct injection of bio-materials and healing agents. We propose to use this method to treat vocal fold scarring by using injectable biomaterials to increase vocal fold pliability.

Dr. Adam Laing, from Dr. Josh Brickman's lab at the University of Edinburgh, has joined our group.

Dr. Tianqi Li from, Iowa State University, has joined our lab as a postoctoral research fellow.
