Graduate students at the University of Texas will work in an interdisciplinary research and educational framework to address sustainable grid integration of distributed and renewable energy systems, a crucial priority for greenhouse gas reduction. A key context for this project is their work with Pecan Street Inc, an Austin-based research and development organization that is exploring smart grid and consumer electronic products, including smart metering, energy storage systems, and appliances. Participating with Pecan Street will provide a real-world problem-based experience for UT students.
