Nick Durr scheduled his dissertation defense at 8 AM on the 24th of August in BME 3.204 on the UT campus.
Nick's dissertation defense will cover his work over the past six years in areas such as two photon luminescence, deep tissue imaging and plasmonic nanoparticles for biomedical applications. In addition to advisor Dr. Adela Ben-Yakar, Nick's commitee includes professors Dr. James Tunnell, Dr. Konstantin Sokolov, Dr. Mike Downer, and Dr. H. Gerritsen. |
Sam Guo scheduled his dissertation defense at 10:30 AM on the 23rd of August in ETC 4.120 on the UT campus.
The defense represents the culmination of five years of work which has focused on the design, development, construction and control of microfluidic devices for the study of C. elegans for biomedical research. In addition to advisor Dr. Adela Ben-Yakar, Sam's commitee includes Mechanical Engineering professors Dr. Li Shi and Dr. Carlos Hidrovo and Biomedical Engineering professors Dr. Jason Shear and Dr. Andrew Dunn. |
New laboratory space is being built on the 7th floor of the ETC building to house expanding FemtoLAB facilities. The new lab space will include a clean room, microfluidics fabrication facilities, expanded RNAi research work space and additional dedicated optical imaging facilities.
The labs are expected to be operational in the Fall of 2010. |
